This is a tough one, as pets have become an essential part of many people's lives. The easiest thing would be to give the pet to someone responsible back home. You can then take holidays to check on the pet's progress. Should you decide to bring a pet you will face the usual quarantine clearances and red tape.
If you are moving from a cold or temperate climate to Malaysia, bear in mind that the pet could suffer in the tropical heat. Is this going to stress the pet?

If you part with your pet it is possible to get a replacement when you arrive in Malaysia or give one of the many stray cats here a home. If you fear missing your pet too much, surf the Veterinary Services Department of Malaysia's website for more details on bringing in your pet at http:\\www.jph.gov.my.

Animal Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur also provides the services for a fee which frees you of the headache in paper work and department hopping; call them at 603 4042 6742 or fax 603 4041 3660; or e-mail to drsiva@tm.net.my
