ABOUT THE MAGAZINE

The Expat Magazine
was launched in January 1996 as a bi-monthly, black and white newsletter sent out free to any expatriates living in Malaysia. The first issue was just 16 pages and only a couple of thousand copies were printed.

During the intervening years we have changed to a full colour, monthly publication and now have many more pages and a much broader distribution.

The Magazine is targeted at all expatriates living in Malaysia who are interested in reading an English language publication. We now have over ninety different nationalities on our mailing list.

The purpose of the Magazine is to increase expatriates’ understanding about Malaysia and all aspects of life here. It is our belief that the more expatriates know about the country they are living in the more they will enjoy their time here. The owners and staff are Malaysians and expatriates who share a love for this country. We believe that Malaysia deserves more recognition as tourist destination and we hope that expatriates who have had an enjoyable stay here, will pass on their positive experiences to the people they meet
in their next assignment.

The magazine covers a wide range of subjects. It is our aim to give readers information about all aspects of Malaysia including travel destinations, its culture, people, history and many other attractions, as possible. We also give insights from expatriates living here on a range of subjects.

Every issue features articles about travel destinations either in the country or within easy travelling distance of Malaysia. All too often expatriates finish an assignment without making the local trips they planned when they first arrived. We hope to encourage our readers to visit some of the many wonderful destinations in the country.

Each issue also has a special section called Expat Information which carries detailed information about dining, shopping and other services available in Malaysia.

The Magazine is only made possible by our advertisers. In order to reach as many expatriates as possible we subsidise 100% of our production and distribution cost so there is no charge to expatriates. For Malaysians we subsidise 20% of our direct costs and they pay just RM48 for a one year subscription.

Our advertisers choose our Magazine because of their genuine interest in doing business with expatriates. When you patronise places that advertise in our magazine you can be sure of a warm reception. When you do visit them we very much hope you will tell them where you saw their advert.

If you would like a free subscription just complete the form in this section and we will add you to our mailing list.
