Thanks to a refurbishment in 2008, this cinema is now one of the best equipped in PJ, offering 10 normal screens and 2 Platinum Movie Suites. Taking the movie going experience to the next level, Platinum Movie Suites pampers customers with plush couple seats which are upholstered in luxurious suede with contoured headrest and armrest fittings. The seats are fully adjustable and when reclined to approximately 140 degrees, providing the ultimate in comfort and relaxation and not to mention butler service throughout your movie experience. Guests can also enjoy complimentary beverages, a pillow and a blanket, a call button (to summon staff) as well as a pre-movie lounge featuring massage chairs, wifi and video games consoles. All this for only RM40 per person. Well-located within an entertainment-focused mall (there are plenty of places to eat!). The cinema shows all the latest releases as well as local and 3D movies.

Well-located for those living in Subang, this branch of MBO has 8 halls and capacity to show 3D movies, with tickets for these starting at RM13. Normal ticket prices are from RM7-12, while this cinema also offers couple seats for RM22-28.

GSC 1 Utama
The cinema at 1Utama offers 13 screens including the higher-end Gold Class which costs RM50. The cinema shows local and Western movies, as well as having an international screen which shows more obscure movies from Europe and South America. There are twin seats for couples costing RM9-13, with normal seats costing RM7-11. For 3D movies expect to pay RM13-20 depending on the seat, the time and the day.

GSC Tropicana City Mall
With 8 screens, this GSC cinema shows all the latest Western and local movies as well as 3D movies, although expect to pay from RM13-20 for the 3D films. Normal tickets start at RM7 for Wednesdays, and cost up to RM11, while couples can get twin seats for RM8-13.

TGV Sunway Pyramid
This cinema has been open since 1997 but in 2011 it had a serious refurbishment and now offers a wider choice of cinema experiences than any other cinema in the area. There are 12 screens, including an IMAX theatre hall with 57-foot wide screen, The Club, a premier hall and The Beaniplex (with a beanbag-style seating arrangement). Normal halls cost RM9-14 with 3D costing RM21; twin seats cost RM14-23 and IMAX tickets cost RM22-29 depending on the seat and the movie.

This cinema has 12 halls and tickets are priced from RM8-10, with lower prices for children, students, senior citizens and couples. Park in the adjacent multi-storey carpark on level 10A and then you can cut through the food court directly to the cinema lobby.

GSC Mid Valley
This branch of GSC has 18 halls and a Gold Class hall, which offers movie-goers a Gold Class Lounge and 32 sofa seats for the movie watching experience. Tickets are priced from RM7-12 for normal screens, RM50 for Gold Class. GSC shows all the latest blockbusters as well as a good range of local movies, and they often show foreign films on their international screen. Mid Valley GSC gets very busy at the weekend, so book on the internet or arrive in plenty of time.

GSC Time Square
This branch of GSC offers normal halls (RM7-11), Premiere Class halls (RM12-18) which have an adjoining lounge and toilet, or the GSC Maxx hall (RM9-13) which seats 555 and is Malaysia's largest digital hall with a 25m-wide screen. GSC show all the latest blockbusters as well as local movies, although you will pay more for movies in their first week of release.

GSC Pavilion
This cinema is located across two floors and is well laid-out with13 halls. Tickets cost from RM8-13, or RM60 for Gold Class where you receive a blanket and enjoy a large seat. Pavilion gets busy late in the evenings on the weekends, so it is advised to book in advance to avoid having to queue.

Lotus Sentul Cinema
This cinema has a distinctively 'community' feel and offers 2 screens, with a third screen in the pipeline. They play both local and foreign movies, and the seats are allegedly 'ergonomically-designed and custom made in India'. Expect to pay RM10-12 for one adult.

This cinema may only have five halls, but it is modern and bright, and often quieter than the cinemas in town. You can get a ticket for as little as RM5 on selected Wednesdays, and top price is RM11, but this cinema does not show any 3D movies.

This neighbourhood mall has a huge Tesco and the cinema has 7 halls showing a mixture of local and Western movies. This is one of the few MBO cinemas that show 3D movies, and ticket prices are RM7-12 for normal movies, with 3D costing RM13++.

Pawagam Odeon KL
This is worth visiting just to see inside a lovely old colonial building that has stood the test of time. Built in 1936, this cinema was refurbished and re-opened in 2011, and it contains one hall seating 250 people, while a lot of the building is taken up with a shopping arcade. The cinema plays local movies which may not be subtitled.

TGV KLCC
This is the largest of the TGV multiplexes with 12 screens and 2,400 seats and it shows all the latest releases. Adults should expect to pay RM12-14, but go on a Wednesday to get tickets for just RM9, while 3D movies cost RM21. Located just one floor above the food court, go and get your tickets and then go downstairs to buy your drinks and snacks.

One of the most recent additions to TGV cinemas, CapSquare has just 6 halls and ticket prices are RM8-13, with tickets priced at just RM8 on Wednesdays. This cinema has capacity for 3D and tickets for these movies cost RM20, while couples can book twin seats for RM12-14 depending on the day, time and movie.

This may be a sleek eatery but it is known for being one of the top venues for live music, especially jazz, in the city. They have an impressive list of artists that have performed there, and their website is a good source of information on upcoming performances. Dewan Filharmonik Petronas
Classical music fans simply must go and see a show at this beautiful concert hall located right inside KLCC. The concert hall is home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra as well as a resident youth orchestra, and both play regularly in a whole range of concerts. There are also piano recitals, vocalists, visiting orchestras and musicians as well as special concerts for various events. The website is constantly updated and tickets are popular, so book in advance.

This is fast becoming a very popular live music venue for international and local bands and DJs, and they have hosted some fantastic events and big names. Located slap-bang in the heart of town, this is a nightmare for traffic but close to Raja Chulan station and within walking distance of Pavilion and KLCC, so it might be worth leaving your vehicle at home.

Istana Budaya
Translated as The Palace of Culture, Istana Budaya is a beautiful building located on the edge of Titiwangsa park and plays host to a wide range of theatre shows, from musicals and plays to operas, with performances in both Bahasa and English. The website is not the easiest to navigate, but it is worth trying to see a show at this cultural venue.

Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KPAC)
This performing arts complex is located in large pleasant grounds that used to be the grounds of the old railway station (you can still see the old building). With a main auditorium as well as various smaller rooms, KLPAC is a wonderful facility showing large-scale performances, recitals, concerts as well as free movie screenings. There is also a shop and a nice restaurant.
